Game Week for Hurricanes at Mclean Park

After three years, the Hurricanes are finally returning to McLean Park to take on the Fijian Drua in a blockbuster Round 2 fixture of Super Rugby Pacific this Saturday afternoon. The matchup promises to deliver some scintillating attacking rugby, and with an exciting 4:35 pm kick-off, it’s a fantastic way to spend your Saturday.

It will be the first time the Hurricanes have played in the Bay since their dominant 43-6 victory over the Western Force in 2021. With their return, they’ll be eager to put on a show for the passionate Hawke’s Bay fans.

Dan Somerville, Commercial Manager of the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union is excited to have the Canes back in the region and is confident the Hawke’s Bay locals are in for a cracker of a game. “It’s fantastic to have the Canes back in the Bay, and it’s even better that it’s early in the season. We also have quite a few Magpies suiting up, which adds to the buzz. The Fijian Drua are an exciting team to watch, it’s shaping up to be a brilliant afternoon.”

One of the Magpies in the squad Pouri Rakete-Stones said “the boys are pumped to get up to Napier. I love the Bay and our people. It will be amazing to play in front of a packed McLean Park of our fans, friends and whānau”.

The Hurricanes will arrive in Napier on Thursday and will hold an open Captain’s Run at McLean Park on Friday at 4 pm. It’s a fantastic opportunity for fans to meet the players, grab an autograph, and take a selfie before the game.

With over 6,000 tickets sold, and a spike in ticket sales over the past 48 hours, a bumper crowd of 10,000+ is expected for the match. So, what are you waiting for!? Come along and cheer on the Hurricanes as they aim for their first win of the season in what promises to be an electrifying clash with the Fijian Drua.
